Throwing my hat into the ring with a terminal layout change, since there does not appear to be a way to apply global layouts (for distro packaging purposes).
This is just a slightly enhanced version of the current layout. Discussions/comments/improvements welcomed!

The top row on the symbols pages is the same as the top row on the non-shifted letter layout.
