Key Rack / Seahorse / Passwords and Keys
Key Rack is an app that I originally wrote to make it possible to look secrets up that are stored in Flatpaks. (Pika Backup stores encryption passwords there and there was no way to look them up.)
@haecker-felix is, as part of STF, working on adding the missing bits and pieces (sophie-h/key-rack#7) to make its features for secrets comparable to Seahorse.
Seahorse is currently not a Core app. Afaik some distros ship it by default though (needs investigation.) @mcatanzaro suggested that we might want to consider shipping Key Rack as a Core app.
Key Rack currently does not support GPG and SSH keys nor X.509 certificates. From today's perspective, it seems a bit arbitrary to collect all these features in one app again. However, it would be great to have specific apps for GPG and SSH. No idea how X.509 certificates are used.
Key Rack uses oo7 instead of libsecret since libsecret does not provide the needed APIs (GNOME/libsecret#71). If there is such a goal, this would also fit into replace libsecret. (I'm not sure if there is a consensus on what's the goal there.)
Just wanted to open an issue such that we have a place to collect ideas.
