Optimized (HQ) proxies relationship with scaled proxies could be made clearer in the Import dialog
Thankfully, Pitivi lets you use HQ proxies and/OR scaled proxies, without actually requiring HQ proxies to be able to use scaled proxies, which matches exactly my usecase (I want the proxies for performance and to avoir re-renders and disk space usage as much as possible as explained in issue #2356).
The problem is that the import dialog isn't terribly clear about this, because the scaled proxies checkbox cannot be active without the "Optimize:" checkbox, which makes it look as if the scaled proxies strictly require HQ proxies to be enabled if you have unsupported media. If I am guessing the inner workings correctly and this isn't actually the case, then I would propose that the UI says something like this:
-
Create high-quality proxies for: ( Unsupported assets | All ) (?) -
Create low-resolution proxy versions (for faster playback during editing)
(The 2nd checkbox's wording is issue #2368 (closed))
...and not have the 2nd checkbox depend on the state of the 1st checkbox.
