Style: Tone down borders
The new stylesheet still has quite a few prominent borders that it would be nice to tone down where possible.
For light I don't feel this issue is as pressing, though I'd be interested in trying shadows instead of borders around lists.
Dark, on the other hand, has an "inverted" look at the moment due to a large number of prominent light borders, including the ones below the headerbar and around the window. A few things to consider/experiment with:
- Less opaque border color
- Shadows rather than borders around lists
- Reduce or remove the light window border. Personally I don't think overlapping terminal windows are an important enough case to optimize the entire stylesheet around.
- Alternate styling for tabs (maybe something in the direction of the new Firefox ones?), as the current one heavily relies on borders
Widgets that need work here:
-
#318 (closed) Tabs (mockup) -
Listboxes -
Entries -
#325 Pathbars(needs a dedicated widget, and with plain linked button styling this one is fine) -
Treeview headers !395 (merged)
Semi-related things that will help with this since they remove some borders:
- Entry rows
- Special styling for spinbutton rows without the extra box
