Add a link for users to suggest improvements to app metadata
While implementing the context tiles, I was wondering whether it would be useful to add a button/link somewhere on the app details page which would allow users to file an issue against the app if its metadata is incorrect or missing. The issue could be pre-filled with suggested metadata.
Such a link could also be added to the ‘No Metadata’ tile which is displayed if the app has no links (!863 (comment 1241301)).
This could be a really helpful way to improve the metadata for apps at a low cost. But it could also be a great way to waste maintainers’ time and annoy them, especially as I can’t think of a way for there to be a feedback loop or way for maintainers to opt to not receive such reports.
Perhaps there could be some appdata which maintainers include to opt-in to receiving such reports? But if they go to the effort of adding that metadata, they might as well make the necessary appdata improvements themselves.
There is an <update_contact/>
element in the appdata spec which is to be used for requesting appdata updates for an app, but it’s explicitly not to be used by end users.
Ideas welcome. Is this something we want and, if so, does anyone have any ideas about the best way to implement it?
