Wayland: tablet pointer is annoyingly blinking on Wayland
GIMP version: master
Operating System: Linux/Wayland
Description of the bug
When running GIMP on pure Wayland, the pointer of a stylus is annoyingly blinking when its position stays put just for a bit. This is very disturbing.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- Run GIMP on Wayland
- Have a tablet connected. Stylus may be in "screen", "window" or "disabled' mode, it changes nothing.
- Play around with your tablet stylus
Expected result: you get a stable pointer showing your stylus position on screen
Actual result: the pointer is there, but:
- If you get a bit too far of the tablet, the pointer disappears. I find this annoying (if it could just show the last known position, it would be better) but it's not the worst part.
- The worst part is that if you stay still just a little bit (a fraction of second), it will disappear too, even though the stylus is clearly still very close of the tablet pad, hence perfectly seen by the system. Yet since one's hand cannot stay perfectly still, you end up having a blinking cursor every time you stay a bit still. This is very disturbing.
@carlosg again, any help?
Between this issue and the one on #5334 (closed), the pointer acts very badly on both pure Wayland and Xwayland and that makes it quite unsuited for working on GIMP with a tablet (which is obviously a blocker issue).
