Fractal should connect to the server through system proxy by default
I just installed the fractal-next, and I can login as expected if I launch fractal through terminal. However, if I launch it in the Gnome Launcher by clicking the icon, it will stuck in the infinite loading spinner. Through journalctl -f -o cat /usr/bin/fractal
, I finally get the log. It output such information:
2022-06-16T02:08:14.292004Z ERROR fractal::session: Couldn’t fetch account metadata: error sending request for url (https://matrix-client.matrix.org/_matrix/client/versions): operation timed out
When launched from terminal, there's no such output like that. And I think that's just the point. I am living in China, so I need to use proxy to access the internet due to the government internet censorship. If not, just like the fractal, I cannot connect to the server which is not located within the China Mainland.
I think the Fractal should use the proxy by default, no matter for breaking through the Great Fire Wall or considering protecting their privacy, just like many other apps (i.e. Element) doing.
