[Feature request] Fail fast and warn when no enough space for backup
By default, the app offers to back up the whole home directory. I found out using du -h --max-depth 0 ~
that my home directory has over 30 GB, and I wanted to back it up to my free Google account with only 3 GB of free space. I knew it won't work, so I selected only a small subset of vital files to back up.
Later, I decided to check how the app behaves in such situation. The app displays such message:
Giving up after 5 attempts. Error: gdata-service-error-quark: Authentication required: {
"error": {
"errors": [
{
"domain": "usageLimits",
"reason": "quotaExceeded",
"message": "The user has exceeded their Drive storage quota"
}
],
"code": 403,
"message": "The user has exceeded their Drive storage quota"
}
}

To address this, the app could display an estimated space needed for backup, and estimated available space on the storage, with an extra piece of logic validating that the available space is sufficient. Thanks to this, the app would fail fast instead of giving the user a false impression that it will manage to create the backup, and then fail in the middle.
