Mirror Librem5s screen to an external monitor in landscape doesn't work
To reproduce:
- switch off automatic screen rotation in phosh
- toggle the screen manually to landscape in phosh
- connect an external display via a dock
- open gnome-control-center / display
- tap the
Mirror
button and hitApply
The phones screen rotates back to portrait and scales down a lot. The external monitor shows gnome-control-center in portrait on the left side of the screen and the background on the rest of the screen.
The scaling stays after disconnecting the phone. This is after disconnecting the phone from the dock:
purism@pureos:~$ wlr-randr
DSI-1 "<Unknown> <Unknown> (DSI-1)"
Physical size: 65x130 mm
Enabled: yes
Modes:
720x1440 px, 63.414001 Hz (preferred, current)
Position: 0,0
Transform: normal
Scale: 1.000000
purism@pureos:~$ sudo -i
[sudo] password for purism:
root@pureos:~# systemctl restart phosh
root@pureos:~#
logout
purism@pureos:~$ wlr-randr
DSI-1 "<Unknown> <Unknown> (DSI-1)"
Physical size: 65x130 mm
Enabled: yes
Modes:
720x1440 px, 63.414001 Hz (preferred, current)
Position: 0,0
Transform: normal
Scale: 2.000000
Update: Motivation for this? Wanted to put the phone for my kids in a holder into the car to show them videos on long drives. Since the phones screen is too small for more than one person looking at it I tried to connect an external monitor to show the videos simultaneously on the phones screen and the external monitor
