Time out of sync
Authenticator seems to be about 20 seconds behind the current time. I'm using the same secrets in Authenticator and Chrome's Authenticator plugin. When a token is about to expire in the latter it is still valid in Authenticator for another 20 seconds or so (see attached screen shot).
This is on a fresh install of Fedora Workstation 30. I'm using Authenticator 3.21.1.
I'm not sure if the output of timedatectl
is relevant.
$ timedatectl
Local time: Fri 2019-06-14 12:45:17 BST
Universal time: Fri 2019-06-14 11:45:17 UTC
RTC time: Fri 2019-06-14 11:45:18
Time zone: Europe/London (BST, +0100)
System clock synchronized: yes
NTP service: active
RTC in local TZ: no
For most accounts I'm using the time difference doesn't cause an issue (Slack, Dropbox, Paypal and Gitlab happily accept either token, even if the Chrome plugin and Authenticator are giving me different tokens). The one exception is Remote Desktop Manager. In that case it always accepts the Chrome plugin's token but it will only accept Authenticator's token when it matches the one shown by the Chrome plugin (giving me a ten second window to enter the token).
