Localization system for release video subtitles
I would like very much to reestablish the localization (l10n) of release video subtitles. It seems previously, subtitles were generated from YouTube's web-based subtitle system, which was discontinued.
I'd be glad to create the subtitles. If the script read in the video can be provided to me, even better; otherwise I can do it myself, preferably with someone proofread. (I did this to the 3.38 video, but I guess it's old now.)
I filed a merge request (Infrastructure/video-subtitles!2) proposing a system that eases the .pot generation—so Damned Lies can use it to create translation files for the language teams—,and .srt generation—to upload to YouTube or any other streaming platform used.
If you like this idea, I'd need someone to merge the above MR (or maybe I should get maintainer permissions to video-subtitles repository and take care of this? Fine by me)
What do you say about it?
