Add a Volume Mixer and put the Media Players there
There's two things I never liked about Gnome:
- A lack of quickly accessible volume mixer
- Media players in the Notification area.
In this concept, all active playback sources are put into the their own menu and merged with media players when it makes sense. I figured since a microphone is a capture device, it's volume could stay in the Quick Toggle menu since the settings for it and the camera (another capture device) chill together in the In Use section.
The speaker volume/select is always pinned at the top since it would be a constant and it isn't given a container so that it stands out. I decided to style the other audio sources with containers just like notifications because I think of them and notifications as events. The difference is that audio playback events are active and on-going events while typical notifications are a log of things that happened already.
I know this clashes with the idea of having one menu but I just don't think it's a good idea for these to fight for screen real estate with normal notifications and I wanted to hopefully insert this idea into the discussion.
