Unlock/login testing
This probably needs to go somewhere else, but I don't know where, so parking it here for now.
We're hoping to land the new lock screen for 3.36. Since it's a complex feature and it's landing late, we want to have a rigorous approach to testing. The following is a plan for this.
Test apparatus
The target for the tests is a development version of gnome-shell, containing the new login and lock screen experience.
Tests can be conducted either using VMs or bare metal (the latter is required to test some features), using a recent development version of the GNOME desktop (3.35.90 or more recent).
Possibilities for this:
- Fedora rawhide, combined with a COPR containing a recent build of gnome-shell
- Arch, with an AUR package
- Fedora 31, with GJS, Mutter and GNOME Shell built from source
