concept for "dj mode" or "cooperative drawing", "cooperative gaming"
what i do sometimes is show e.g. a youtube video, and while it is playing, search for the next one, in 2 scenarios:
- maximize a window on right half of the screen, use the left half to prepare the next thing to show.
- plug a second screen or beamer to show, use the primary screen to prepare the next thing to show.
especially the case when using the activity menu the experience is not very good any more. the full screen video on the beamer gets an ugly edge around it when pressing the windows key to open an app on the main screen.
when only having one screen, it is even more difficult. one cannot really define a part of the screen which is not affected by the gnome windows key magic, or its top panel, notifications. i admit, this is a challenge which is more recent as single screens become bigger. if the now bigger screen is additionally a touch screen i recently saw kids try to use it like on a mobile phone. swipe it. or two kids touching the screen at the same time, one left, one right (trying to do something they know from splitting the screen in two known from an android device). what embarrassment for a person still using the mouse :) :)
in the most complex scenario, the kids then opened a game full screen and playing against each other, or draw something where they would have needed kind of 2 cursors for drawing 2 lines at the same time. i googled, then decided to create a ticket here - as gnome people are known as advanced thinkers in GUI design. sweat.
