App Grid Improvements
Resolution Accommodations
- on very large/small screens the grid doesn't display in an ideal fashion
- Problematic resolutions: 4K, 1366x768 (extremely common in South America), 1280x720, ultra-wide
- either the grid is too small with a lot of whitespace (large displays) or is too large with icons that are too small (smaller screens)
- break points or special classes for these cases would allow the stylesheet to be updated to adapt the grid to them
Pagination:
- the app grid pages are not easily discoverable[1]
- hover hinting for the pages
- "nudging" the content
- incorporating an always visible navigation arrow (or other indication of pagination) to increase discoverability
- mouse navigation needs improvement
- multiple pages per display for ultra-wide?
Grid Spacing/Layout
- spacing and padding is hardcoded into the icon grid (and the dash)
- there is yet to be a layout for portrait displays (e.g. phones)
- white space on the sides of the pages make the peek effect ineffective for previewing apps on the prev/next pages [2]
App Folders
- as they inherit grid spacing
- moving applications between folders isn't possible [3]
- an application cannot be put back into a folder if it is dragged from a folder
- folders are not drag targets if the drag initiated within a folder [4]
- cannot delete/dissolve a folder
- to get to deleting a folder you have to remove all applications first [5]
- should deleting a folder should return all icons to the main grid?
