gnome-terminal interferes with rpm

Hello.
Since mandriva switched from rpm 4 to rpm 5, I'm unable to use rpm to build any package from a terminal anymore, as any attempt to fork a shell scriptlet fails:
[guillaume@beria ~]$ LC_ALL=C rpm -ba rpm/SPECS/shelldap.spec Executing(%prep): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.18284 error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.18284 (%prep)
RPM build errors: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.18284 (%prep)
This happens only from gnome-terminal, other terminal emulators are OK (xterm,, rxvt, tty, etc...).
Running the command through gdb works, tough. I'm suspecting an issue with signal handling, given the occurence of signal handlers in the last part of the attached strace output.
I'm using gnome-terminal 2.33.3, on a mandriva linux cooker, 64 bits.
This has been originaly reported in mandriva bugzilla: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=62262
