Incorrect Text Rendering

Description
Please describe the problem: VTE is not rendering text correctly. Unlike ALL other applications on my desktop, it seems to have problems when dealing with fontconfig/libfreetype (bytecoder enabled).
freetype 2.1.9 (bytecoder enabled) fontconfig 2.2.3 gtk 2.8.20 pango 1.12.4 terminal 0.2.5.6rc1 (xfce)
Please note that it does render text correctly when using the autohinter + open source fonts. Well I think it does. But with libfreetype with bytecoder enabled + microsoft core fonts, it doesn't. I'm using Courier New by the way. And this is really weird because I remember using that kind of setup a long time ago and it worked well. I'm sure the problem is VTE...the rest of the Terminal gui is not even affected by this.
I did recompile everything by the way. I made sure it wasn't depending on some older version of fontconfig/libfreetype. And same thing happens when using the latest release of the 0.12.x branch.
Steps to reproduce:
- Compile libfreetype with bytecoder support.
- Install Microsoft core fonts.
- Compile VTE (default settings***).
- Compile Terminal (default settings).
***I also tried --with-xft2, --with-pangox, etc but it didnt help.
Actual results: See it in action ;-)
