Tracker eating lots of RAM
Hello!
I am having this problem for a while now so I decided to post it to maybe get some answers. Since one of the tracker updates (I belive it was something about 13th of June but I am not sure) I stareted to get my computer freezed regurarly and I had to restart my pc several times through out the day. After running htop
I found out that tracker is eating a lot of my resources and this usage is increasing with time
To prevent my PC from freezing I was running several times a day tracker reset -r
. After running this command tracker process was killed and and all of the usage went down
Nevertheless process was respawned at some point and started to consuming all of my resources again. Then I run that command again and so on and so on...
Right now I disabled in GNOME settings indexing for all of directories (Settings -> Search -> Serach locatinos) and it seems to be working fine right now.
I read at several different forums that if I have a lot of files tracker take a lot of resources to index them but in my case it seems to be not normal. I have a lot of files in these directories that's true but I also have pretty decent amount of RAM and CPU and tracker wants to have all of it. Also correct me if I am wrong but I belive that tracker should not be taking so much resources even in most extreme situations considering that it comes with gnome by default (at least on arch which is what I am using). I could not uninstall this dependency and It made my computer unusable and I dont think I have that many files.
If u need more informations from my side just ask me and i will provide them for u either its about my setup, logs or direcotries structures :D
