Duplicate search results
tracker3 search ExampleQuery
returns 2 identical results or every query. If I do tracker3 reset -s && sleep 90 && tracker3 search ExampleQuery
it now returns 3 results. I can repeat this until it returns a maximum of 6 results. It’ll stay like this for a few days and then it “fixes” itself back to only returning 2 duplicated results.
Now, I’ve disabled indexing of the Downloads folder from gnome settings. However, I can still search for files and get matches inside the Downloads folder; except that I get a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 duplicated results instead of the 2–6 I get in non-excluded directories. I have no idea why the numbers are different for all files in this (excluded) directory.
I’ve tried opening GNOME Settings: Search: Search locations and disabling Home. I thought maybe it indexed Downloads because its a subfolder of Home even though Downloads was explicitly disabled. It made no difference.
For applications, I always get 19 duplicate .desktop results.
Murdering all tracker processes, binning $XDG_CACHE_HOME/tracker3, and restarting also makes no difference.
