Taking screenshots isn't working anymore

The issue has been initially reported on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1962679 , the problem is also there with the 42~beta package from Debian

playing an .avi video i select 'take screensot' and i have a small window with a message 'Totem could not get a screenshot of the video. This is not supposed to happen; please file a bug report'

This warning is displayed in the console Could not take screenshot: failed to retrieve or convert video frame
