1bpp Text Scanning
I love simple-scan. It works so well!
However, I noticed several version back, that text scanning mode switched from 1bpp to greyscale.
Besides making large amounts of scanning much slower, the problem with this mode is that when the result is sent to a laser printer, all of the text has various levels of dithering at the edges, which is much less clean than straight 1bpp copies. The resulting PDFs are much larger, too.
From my view, the only real differentiation between "text mode" and "image mode" is the DPI setting at the moment. It has classically been DPI + depth.
It might make sense to have greyscale scanning as a default for text, with the option for monochrome. A possible solution is a drop-down in the settings page to switch between the two. Some might like an option for full-colour there, as well.
