Quick & easy date change

Description
I find myself using the date and time adjust dialog way often, which is not much fast to use.
A common use case is to go back from a trip and get photos from places where that metadata is stripped (i.e. mobile messaging apps) or from cameras whose date is not aligned properly with mine.
Fixing bug 753943 would help, but while that dialog is very helpful for the 2nd case, for the 1st one it would be better to be able to just drag & drop a picture in the library to change its date and get it properly sorted.
So imagine I have 3 pictures: A, B, and C. Now I move C between A and B. I can imagine these 2 UX:
Method 1
After moving C, a little tooltip form shows, with a datetime input and a slider input.
I can do 3 things:
-
Move the slider left or right. Left (0%) indicates setting the picture date to 1 second after pic A. Right (100%) means setting it to 1 second before pic B.
-
Input the datetime directly.
-
Press Accept or Cancel (to save or roll back the datetime change).
Instead of step 3, we could just hide the popup after a timeout if no other input comes from the user, and let him press Ctrl-Z to roll back if needed.
Method 2
When I still haven't dropped C, I can see how A and B separate as much as possible, letting me room to drop C closer to A or closer to B. A tooltip indicates the datetime that will be set, and it changes when I drag it left or right.
I guess both methods would be compatible.
