Currently there is no way to distinguish between two identical images of different sizes.
This should also be shown in Shotwell, as a (optional) badge over each item in the library.

Shotwell does display the image size in the basic information pane (lower left-hand corner). Can you elaborate what this badge would show?

Ok I didn't see it in Shotwell.
However I can't find it in shotwell-viewer.
