Original description:
Shotwell 0.14.1, Peppermint 3.
When I try to import from a folder I get the file selection window to select the folder but when I click on the button nothing happens. No noticeable cpu is being used. I have to kill the program. I have tried using a virgin database but same happens.
This did not happen before but I do not know what has changed. The only thing I can think that is related is that I have installed gThumb but this may be irrelevant.

My fault (in part).
The dialog that says ""Import in Place" or "Copy"" is hidden behind the file selection dialog. If you minimise the file selection dialog the import dialog minimises too. So you have to slide the file selection dialog sideways out of the way to reveal the import dialog.

This seems odd to me. Are you saying that when you select File -> Import From Folder, both the file chooser dialog and the Copy / Import in Place dialog appear at the same time?

please see the next post which shows how this issue has been resolved (sort
of).

No, this works correctly: the the Copy / Import in Place dialog appears
after I select the file. The trouble is this the Copy / Import in Place
dialog appears behind the file chooser dialog so I can't see it and
therefore assume Shotwell had hung. Now I know to slide the file chooser
dialog sideways to reveal it.

I see. It does sound like a window manager problem to me. I know that we don't have this problem on other platforms. What window manager is Peppermint using? Have you tried working with them on this issue?
