Original description:
Currently when "Send To"ing items, we have "Unmodified" which copies the original file to a temp location and then uses the copies as send to targets.
As proposed in #6446 if we can configure the send to handler, it would make sense to allow sending the original files in the library for editing/metadata adaption/whatever handling. Probably a "reimport after execution" might be necessary or so.
Related issues:
- related to shotwell - Feature #1798 (closed): keep full-resolution version of each edited image (Open)
- related to shotwell - Feature #6446: allow changing "Send To" target, and allow in place send to (Open)

One problem with this is that if the user has made edits to the photo, they are not reflected in the on-disk original. If the Send To target modifies those photos and Shotwell reimports them, the edits are lost. This is a poor user experience.
A more robust solution is for Shotwell to maintain fully transformed images on disk (#1798 (closed)). With that in place, Shotwell would not need to create temporary "Unmodified" photos for Send To (or, for that matter, in many other places in the code).

Agreed, that is a difficult case. I have to think about it.
