shotwell is already the newest version.
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
shotwell : Depends: libgexiv2-1 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I don't understand why the dependency won't install. The only option for me is purging shotwell.

Hi John,
Have you tried removing the package libgexiv2-2 0.6.1-0ubuntu1 and then letting libgexiv2-1_0.6.1+102~raring1 install?
Cheers,
Lucas

Hey guys, I ran into this with Shotwell on Elementary OS Luna, after adding the `daily' PPA.
I fixed it by `apt-get remove shotwell libgexiv2-2 && apt-get install libgexiv2-1 shotwell'
Basically, remove shotwell, remove that lib, install the older version, and reinstall shotwell.
A bit cumbersome, but it worked
