Original description:
Currently, Shotwell can encounter problems leading up to a crash on machines where gstreamer-plugins-bad is installed; the problem appears to happen in libdca while the video file's audio encoding is being examined.
If there's an API exposed for it, it might be worth attempting to disable or prevent the audio encoding check.

This would, if possible, work around https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683053 .

- Status changed from Open to 5
- Resolution set to wontfix
I'd like to vote for closing this - GStreamer has had an update that fixes the original problem, and there doesn't appear to be any way to tell it to do this anyway (please see http://valadoc.org/#!api=gstreamer-0.10/Gst.Element for details).
