Original author: Bingo Something
Original description:
I'm using 0.12.3+trunk on Ubuntu 11.10 and I can't publish to either Picasa or Facebook.
Both requests return with an announcement that "A file required for publishing is unavailable. Publishing to Facebook / Picasa can't continue."
Everything was fine until I added the Yorba PPA and updated to the latest version of Shotwell.
Have I done something noobie-stupid or is there something wrong at your end?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the bug report - this is a duplicate of #5290.
The fact that you're running 0.12.3+trunk shows that you're running our daily development build. We do our best to keep the daily build stable, but occasionally things may break as you're observed. If you want more stability, you should use the normal Yorba PPA (https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ppa).

Thanks for the reply. And the link.
However, that was the ppa I've been using.
Which is why I was confused when looking in Synaptic that it had upgraded to 0.12.3-1~precise2.
I know I know nothing about nothing, but as I'm on 11.10 shouldn't that end in oneiric?

Hi Bingo,
If, when you open the About box from the Help menu, you see a version number with "+trunk" at the end of it (you reported using 0.12.3+trunk), it means you're running an experimental copy of Shotwell. This can only mean one of two things. It could mean that someone built an experimental copy of Shotwell from source code and installed it on your PC. Or it could mean that you are subscribed to the Shotwell experimental PPA in addition to the normal Yorba PPA. Do you think that you or someone else with access to your PC might have done either of these things?

Apologies, but I believe this may be my fault; the corresponding entry
in debian/changelog is incorrectly formatted (notice that it reads
'shotwell (0.12.3-1~precise2) oneiric; urgency=low' as opposed to
'shotwell (0.12.3-1~oneiric2) oneiric; urgency=low' or shotwell
(0.12.3-1~precise2) precise; urgency=low').
If this is breaking things for you (or any other user), please let us
know right away.

I believe these issues can be avoided by using the dch utility to maintain the changelog.

I think I may have discovered the root of the problem. Ubuntu Tweak has been upgraded and either I or (100% more likely) the other idiot who uses this computer has checked the Yorba PPA in the sources centre. It doesn't say anything about it being the experimental PPA but....

@Bingo:
Apologies. We just discovered that the problem may be on our end and that content from the experimental repository may have been pushed to the official, stable PPA.
