Original description:
Each time, I move photos from one event to another, the screen (only the part where the photos are shown) is flickering by each update of the progress bar.
Steps to reproduce.
- Create a Event with one photo
- Then move 3 photos to this event - nothing is flickering, because no progress bar is shown.
- Move at least 5 photos to this event - now, the screen will flicker on each update of the progress bar.
If you move e.g. 30 photos to a event, this behavior will hurt your eyes.
I use Shotwell 0.12.3 on Fedora 17.

Forgot to mention: The performance of moving these 30 photos are really bad - it takes 15 seconds to move them from one event into another

I see this too. I agree that this flickers too much and is too slow.

We don't see this any longer. I've tried moving ~ 690 photos into an event and don't see any flickering. The performance wasn't instant, but reasonable. Stefan, are you still seeing this with 0.14?

I just saw this in Gnome 3 Fallback Mode (Metacity) with Compton compositing manager running - maybe it's a Metacity-specific problem?

Currently, I am not able to try it on 0.14, because I am still running Fedora 17. Since reporting this Issue, I've updated Shotwell to 0.13.1 - but this changed nothing.

Stefan, I assume you're using GNOME 3 Shell. Are you running it in Fallback mode?

Jim, you are right. I'm running GNOME 3 Shell. I tried the Fallback mode, and flickering also occurs. But, I would say, that the flickering is not the same
- it feels different :-)

Today, I migrated to Fedora 19 (Shotwell 0.14.1) and the flickering during the move of photos is no longer present.
For me, the issue is resolved. thx
