Original description:
The key to change rotate from right to left is "ctrl". This should instead be the "alt" key also known as "alternate" or "option" since this is an alternate behavior for this action.

- Priority changed from Normal to High
- Target version set to 0.12
Sounds reasonable assuming this is technically feasible.

Target version deleted (

_0.12_</strike>
)
I just tried implementing this in the obvious way and it didn't work: GTK traps the Alt key press and uses it to activate the main menu, so our code doesn't see it. It may be possible to work around that, but I think we won't get to this for 0.12.

I got it working without problems. I append the patch so you can look into it (works on CollectionPage and PhotoPage).
But I think it makes no sense to switch to alt because I got trouble with Metacity. In the default setting on Ubuntu (11.10 but also earlier) and other distros the alt key is used as a special key to move/resize/get window menu of a window. So Metacity is catching all clicks.
I disabled the setting and it worked without problems but Shotwell has not that much settings that it would need to use the alt key, so stick with the ctrl key.

I agree: if Alt doesn't work with Metacity then we should simply stick with Ctrl for this feature.

- Status changed from Open to 5
- Resolution set to wontfix
Being that the Alt key is used for window management hotkeys in both Metacity and Compiz, this is not a desired feature. Closing as "wontfix."
