Shotwell will sometimes place images in the wrong folder, though it usually only seems to be off by a day.
Version: 0.9.3
OS: Linux Mint Debian Edition (current version)

By the way, Shotwell 0.9 is a bit old now. Is there any way you could upgrade to 0.11 and see whether the problem still happens there?

On my machine, a current Shotwell build imports this photo into the correct folder:
~/Pictures/2006/08/09/30_220.jpg

Aha - I now think you've run into 3427, which we fixed for 0.11. So I'm marking this as a duplicate. If you upgrade to 0.11 and still have this problem, feel free to reopen.
