Original Redmine bug id: 4563
Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4563
Searchable id: yorba-bug-4563
Original author: Sebasti án Treu
Original description:
This is not using shotwell binary without arguments (e.g. viewing the shotwell library)
Steps to reproduce:
- Copy 9 photos to a folder
- Rename each photos as 1.jpg, 2.jpg, ..., 9.jpg
- Open a terminal
- Change directory to where photos are stored.
- Issue: shotwell 1.jpg
Result:
- First 1.jpg photo is displayed. Photo 7.jpg is shown, after pressing space. Then, 9.jpg is displayed, 8.jpg, 6.jpg, 5.jpg, 4.jpg, 3.jpg, and 2.jpg
Expected:
- Photo 1.jpg is first shown, following 2.jpg, 3.jpg, and so on until 9.jpg
Notes:
If you follows the steps to reproduce this bug renaming each file ordered, then the lexicographic order should be the same as the modified-date order. Shotwell is not sorting even lexicographic neither by date (file modification date).
It seems that shotwell is ordering the files by the date when photos were taken, but I'm not really sure. This is not an expected behaviour when you are not using the main library for viewing files/photos.
Test:
I have taken 9 photos with my camera, I copied them (without renaming) to a folder and I opened the first one with shotwell and I can check the same situation:
The opened photo is shown first, then, the 7th photo is shown, then the decresing 9th, 8th, 6th, and so on until the 2nd photo.
Please, check this with the taken photos.
On the same thing, opening the last photo instead the first one will have the same behaviour but symmetric in the following sense:
- The 9th photo is shown, then the 3rd, then the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and so on until the 8th photo.
More Information:
Shotwell version: 0.10.1
Distribution: Fedora 16

I noticed some weird behaviour now.
The above stated will happen ONLY on windowed mode. If you press F11 (Switch to fullscreen) and start passing photos (e.g. using space), the expected sorting is shown. If you switch back to windowed mode, then the sorting is what the above bug stated.

- Status changed from Open to 5
- Resolution set to duplicate
This appears to be a duplicate of #3736, which was fixed in Shotwell 0.11. If you upgrade to 0.11 the problem should go away.
