Original description:
Hi all,
(running git checkout from today 2011-08-18)
currently, when I have the same "subtag" in more than one main tags (like people/aaa and camera/aaa), I cannot add the tag people/aaa since this is not allowed. And when I add "aaa" then it is put automatically into camera/aaa.
Would it be possible to specify the subtags in the add tag dialog? Something like add tags: foo/bar/baz would create tag "foo" and within that tag "bar" and withing that tag "baz" and would tag that photo down there.
Thanks and all the best
Norbert

Our plan is that if you have two tags named "aaa", then when you type "aaa" in the Add Tag dialog, the autocomplete system should show you both possibilities. We're undecided as to the exact syntax, but perhaps it will show both "aaa (people)" and "aaa (camera)", for example. That way you'll be able to select either tag without having to type the full path. That's 3911, so this bug is effectively a duplicate of that one. Unfortunately we won't have time to implement that for 0.11, so in 0.11 the only way to assign ambiguous tags like these will be to drag the photo to the appropriate tag in the sidebar.

That seems a good idea, but a bit inconsistent with the way searches work, or at least I believe searches work. There I can search for "people/aaa" and the right photos are found. Wouldn't it make sense to keep notation consistent_
But I am convinced you will find a good solution, in the meantime I am trying my daily git builds.
Thanks, Norbert

That's a good point: if slash-separated paths work in saved searches, then I think they should also work in the Add Tags dialog.

@ adam: just to be clear, using slashes for partial path searches will be disallowed for 0.11 as soon as #4005 (closed) is implemented.
