Original description:
I usually have “Write tags, titles and other metadata to photo files†option selected in preferences. However, sometimes it is inconvenient when I want to import and edit new photos and the metadata writer starts the usually lengthy process of updating existing files.
Then I go to preferences and temporarily uncheck this option and relaunch Shotwell to stop the photo files updating process.
I think it would be more convenient if there was a command in menu like “Write metadata to photo filesâ€. Then user could execute it for selection of photos. This way user would have more control on this process which usually takes time.
This idea is also a bit inspired by my experience described here #3641 (closed)
