Original description:
The intent of this ticket is that the Adjust Date/Time dialog should be non- modal and operate interactively, like an "Inspector" window on Mac OS. This is to say, when a user adjusts the date/time on a set of photos, those photos should shift into their new positions interactively so that the user can see the new photo order in the checkerboard before confirming or rejecting the change.
The ticket was originally described this way:
When the user adjusts the date and time of
a photo (or multiple photos) the GUI
should update to show the placement of the
photo if it's sorted by date. That way
the user can get the ordering of their photos
correct.
This is particularly useful for users who have
multiple cameras when the clocks on the cameras
don't agree.
Ideally, the adjust date/time dialog would also
be made non-modal so the user could inspect
individual photos as they fixed the timestamps
on their photos.

See discussion http://lists.yorba.org/pipermail/shotwell/2011-May/002298.html for more details of how the interface could be.

- Priority changed from Low to Normal
Clint wrote via email that he thinks this ticket can now be closed:
Reason: if I have sorting set to 'by date', and I change the date on a media source, the sorting criterion seems to take effect immediately when running out of trunk; that is, the application already seems to know how to do what he's asking for...
I guess I don't completely understand this feature request when it says "the GUI should update" - as Clint wrote, is that not already happening? Maybe we can discuss more today.

- Subject changed from Adjust date/time: show new new placement of photo(s) to Adjust date/time interactively
- Description updated (diff)
The problem was that this ticket was somewhat ambiguously named.

ambiguously named.
This ticket shouldn't be closed. It was just not named clearly, so that a reader who didn't click on the mailing list post link might be confused as to what the ticket was asking for.
