Original author: Andres Moreira
Original description:
It would be nice to have an option to export the image to jpg, resize it, etc when exporting to Flickr (or other service). This option is available in Digikam for example and it's great.
My use case is, I have an image in RAW (DNG) and I want to resize it and convert it to JPG before upload it to flickr, I don't want to keep the jpg, just I need it to upload it.
In the actual workflow I have to:
- export it to /tmp
- upload it using the publish service
- remove it from library and from /tmp
Join them would be very cool.

Andrix,
Shotwell automatically converts photos to JPEG format before uploading them to Flickr. Flickr can't accept RAW files anyway – see
http://www.quora.com/It-is-possible-to-upload-raw-files-on-flickr-If-not- which-is-the-best-site-to-store-them
http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/9645/is-there-any-flickr-picasa-web- service-to-store-and-share-raw-files
And Shotwell already lets you choose a size for resizing before uploading to Flickr.
I think Shotwell already does what you want, so I'm marking this as invalid. If I'm missing something, feel free to continue the discussion here.

Hi Adam,
Well seems that is not working that for me. The publish interface said that “unable to serialize photo '_IGPXXXX.%(=caps)DNG%' for publishingâ€. I am using Shotwell installed from your PPA.
Package: shotwell
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.9.3-1~maverick1
Priority: optional
Section: gnome
For that reason I've created the ticket. My images are saved in DNG Format, and they had some retouch.
Thanks!

The error “unable to serialize for publishing†is unexpected, so we should investigate this.
- Does this error occur only for DNG photos which you have edited in Shotwell, or for all DNG photos?
- Can you send us a DNG photo which exhibits this problem? If it's larger than 4 Mb you won't be able to attach it here, but you can email it to us at shotwell@yorba.org .

No, it's ocurrs to all my DNG photos edited or not (just DNG, JPG works well).
- Can you send us a DNG photo which exhibits this problem? If it's larger than 4 Mb you won't be able to attach it here, but you can email it to us at shotwell@yorba.org .
I've just sent it a DNG photo example of 10.6 MB to the email provided.
Thanks for your reply and quickly attention to this issue.

Thanks for sending the photo by email. Unfortunately I can't reproduce this in Shotwell 0.9.3 on Fedora 15: I'm able to publish the photo to Flickr without a problem. Lucas, I'm handing this off to you; please work with andrix to debug this further. Thanks!

Adam,
thanks a lot for your work. Is there something I could do to help you? I am a developer, I don't know the Vala language, neither the GTK & libraries shotwell use. But let me know if there is something I can help.
Thanks!

Hi andrix,
At what size are you trying to publish the photos? You can determine this by seeing what value is selected in the popup box labeled “Photo Size:†in the Flickr publishing options pane.

Hi Lucas,
I've tested witht this values:
size : all values
Photos visible to: {Just me, Everyone}
without any luck, same error that I've reported above.
