It would be useful if shotwell could create tags from the photo meta data. For example I would find it useful if all my photos were tagged by the camera model as this would allow me to identify who took the photo.
I would be interested to know how easy this would be to implement as I would not mind spending a day coding to make it happen.

One thing we'd like to do is offer persistent smart searches, where the user can create a search from any number of criteria (including the various metadata that a photo may hold): #1587.
Is this what you're looking for?
