To see the problem:
Create an empty directory.
Change the directory permissions so that you have no permission to read it.
Import the directory into Shotwell.
Shotwell will abort with this error:
ERROR:Dialogs.vala:457:import_ui_get_media_specific_string: code should not be reached

This apparently occurs only during a manual import, not when auto-importing.
