Original description:
Geoff Russell reported this on our mailing list:
Just plugged in my brand new Nikon Coolpix P500 and fired up shotwell 0.7.2 on Ubuntu 10.10
Shotwell tells me it finds a USB PTP class camera, but can't find any pictures … unspecified error.
Jim, can you suggest a next debugging step?

Please do this at the console:
$ gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=gphoto.log -L
and attach the generated file (gphoto.log) to this ticket. That would help us see what's going on.
You can also try looking at the camera's contents yourself using this command:
$ gphoto2 --shell
If it gives you the same error as Shotwell, that indicates gphoto2 is having trouble talking to the camera.

- Status changed from Open to 5
- % Done changed from 0 to 100
- Resolution set to duplicate
- Keywords set to nikon, coolpix, gphoto, ptp, connection, error
Tentatively marking as a duplicate of #3332 (closed) - it would seem that both Nikon point-and-shoots and DSLRs are affected by similar problems.
