Should be easy to fix; upping to high.

In fact, this should be so easy to fix that I think we may as well roll this into 0.8.1. Upping to release.

SRW files are accepted now when importing from folder but are still ignored when importing from camera SD card.

Hmm … could you run Shotwell like this from the console:
$ SHOTWELL_LOG=1 shotwell
and atempt to import .%(=caps)SRW% files from your camera. Then exit and attach to this ticket this file:
~/.cache/shotwell/shotwell.log
This should tell me why Shotwell isn't importing the files.
I'll attempt to reproduce this when I'm in the office later today.

I copied some .%(=caps)SRW% files to a DCIM card and attempted to import them into Shotwell. I reproduced the problem you described.
The long and the short of it: gphoto2 (the library we use to access cameras and DCIM cards) is not reporting files on the device that have an extension of .%(=caps)SRW%. They're essentially invisible to Shotwell. If I rename the files to .%(=caps)RAW%, Shotwell sees and imports them just fine.
You can see this yourself if you install the gphoto2 command-line tool (sudo apt-get install gphoto2
). Run
$ gphoto2 --shell
then cd
and ls
down the filesystem, just like moving through the UNIX
filesystem. If you do see your .%(=caps)SRW% files, I would like to know. On
the DCIM card on my desktop, gphoto2 does not report them.
I was able to add and rename the SRW files by going through Nautilus, which does not use gphoto2 to access DCIM cards. (We're considering removing gphoto2 from Shotwell; see #2498 (closed)).
I've reported this on the gphoto2 mailing list. When I get a response, I'll report it here.

I tried “gphoto2 --shell†with the same result: it does not list SRW files, only JPEGs are shown.

Marcus Meissner has confirmed to me in email that this is a bug in gphoto2 and will be fixed in the next release. Marking has fixed.
