Original description:
I use shotwell to organize my photos. A typical photoshoting includes >500 photos where the lion share is trash. I want to delete photos physically from the HD from shotwell. Currently I must use the mouse and must additionally confirm that I want to delete a file.
I want a keyboard shortcut to remove a image physically. I don't want to start an additional filemanager to remove these files a second time, this behavior is impractical.
Additionally: the original camera raw files are saved somewhere else. So this “hidden backup†to hide images from shotwell is questionable in my eyes. Who really reimport photos that was once de-selected? Delete it!

In the Shotwell trunk, the Edit->Remove from Library command has a keyboard shortcut: Shift+Delete. So you can delete photos physically from the hard drive by pressing Shift+Delete, then choosing “Trash File†(or pressing Alt+T) which will move the files to your desktop trash can. I think we want to keep this confirmation step since it seems dangerous to delete files without confirmation.
Given this, I'm marking this bug as fixed. If this is not satisfactory to you, feel free to comment here and we can discuss this more.
I don't understand your comment saying “the original camera raw files are saved somewhere elseâ€. What do you mean? How is Shotwell behaving differently than you would like or expect?
