Original description:
The current location of the toolbar seems to be fixed in the bottom of the photo-window (unless I've missed a preference somewhere).
For wide screens with limited vertical screen-space (e.g. small laptops/netbooks), it would make more sense to have this to the left or right of the photo window, in a vertical orientation, and some users may prefer the toolbar to be above their photos.
Suggested solution(s):
A) add a preference option for “Toolbar locationâ€, with the options “Belowâ€, “Aboveâ€, “Leftâ€, “Right†of photo (defaulting to “belowâ€)
(This is the behaviour for the Gnome Taskbar, in its right-click > “properties†> “orientation†setting)
B) Make the toolbar draggable, and while being dragged, snap to the different edges of the photo area. (This is the behavior shown by the windows taskbar when not locked)
