Original Redmine bug id: 2816
Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/2816
Searchable id: yorba-bug-2816
Original author: Mike -
Original description:
I've been working with 0.7.2+trunk and this happens consistently for me:
-
Import batch of photos (from disk, linked)
-
Once complete, click on LAST IMPORT
-
CTRL+A to select all last imported
-
CTRL+T to tag them all
-
Enter several tags
-
Crash with error:
ERROR:Tag.vala:181:tag_source_collection_real_notify_container_contents_added: assertion failed: (is_added)
Aborted
Upon reopening and clicking LAST IMPORT, the files appear, some partially tagged. Some of the imported photos did not get tagged, others received not all of the tags. The tagging operation is crashing prematurely for some reason.
I can now select all and tag without crash. It appears to only cause a crash when attempted immediately after an IMPORT.

I can't reproduce this. How many tags are you adding at once?

- Priority set to Urgent
I can reproduce this:
Start Shotwell with an empty library.
Import a single photo.
View the Last Import page.
Import another photo. You'll now see three items in the Last Import page due to http://redmine.yorba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2823.
Select all items in the Last Import page, press Ctrl+T and enter a tag name. The assertion failure above will occur.
It seems likely that this bug is merely an unpleasant side effect of#2823.

I just reproduced this with a test import of 16394 images (some videos), which I immediately attempted to tag with three tags (existing tags).
Possibly of interest is that some videos I attempt to import I am noticing are flagged as duplicate images and not imported (they are neither images nor duplicates…).
I am importing by folder, creating links. These sporadic video files it encounters may be causing the problem, as they are being flagged as duplicates, which, again, they are not. If so, perhaps we should give the option of importing photos or videos or both when users want to import by folder? Perhaps this belongs as another bug/suggestion ticket….

@bluebomber,
we have a small reproducible test case (see my comment 3 above), so I expect we'll be able to fix this soon.
It's interesting to hear that you have some videos which are being flagged as duplicates though they are not. If you can generate a small test case – i.e. 2 videos which Shotwell falsely considers to be duplicates of each other – then please open another ticket for that and attach those videos if possible (if they are too large, you can post them somewhere and put the URLs in the ticket). Thanks!
