Original description:
We've had one report about the nocona optimizations causing an instruction fault during execution:
http://lists.yorba.org/pipermail/shotwell/2010-January/000201.html
This has also been reported with Fillmore. This indicates that there are users out there with non-Nocona processors who would like to use Shotwell.
Since there's been much optimization work on the color transformation code since we added the Nocona flag, we should test again to see what the difference is. (We can use sysprof or the MEASURE_PIPELINE compiler flag to discover this.) This will give some indication of how significant the Nocona opts are.
However, we should do something to help these users. Once we know what's at risk, let's decide how to proceed.
