Original description:
When I use the Tab key to move the keyboard focus between different areas of the Shotwell window, currently the focus cycles in the following order:
- sidebar
- Basic Information pane (if present)
- main photo area
- toolbar
Giving the focus to Basic Information is probably not so useful for most users since we don't let the user enter information there. For accessibility, however, we should probably continue to allow Basic Information to receive focus so that it's possible to copy the text out of the area without using the mouse.
I think we should use the following order:
- sidebar
- main photo area
- Basic Information pane (if present)
- toolbar
That would better follow the GNOME interface guidelines, which suggest that tabbing should work left-to-right and top-to-bottom (see http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/input-keyboard.html.en). Also, it would allow the user to switch between the sidebar and main photo area by pressing Tab (or Shift+Tab) only once, which would be nice.
