File Conversion for Apple iPod Devices
To the surprise of some, because of a dedicated modding community, the classic Apple iPod music players have been resurrected from junk drawers worldwide and are being regularly used for music listening again, which is great, but one problem is that iTunes really sucks. iPods can only natively support up to CD quality ALAC files, and while rythymbox can convert CD quality FLAC files to ALAC format, it unfortunately doesn't have a feature to convert higher quality, industry standard (I.E. 24/192 FLAC files) to the lowest common denominator the iPod can handle. rythymbox would be my ultimate music player if it had a more robust tag editor (Including ALAC tags) and do the necessary conversion for iPod devices.
