Description
(Rhythmbox version is 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1.3+5.5trisquel1, but I have had this problem on many distros and every Rhythmbox version.)
If I am using Rhythmbox at the same time my ipod is plugged in, then it tries to download the metadata for every song on its hard drive, despite settings. The ipod uses Rockbox for its firmware, and doesn't have apple firmware installed, or an apple music database on its hd.
I have every removable device synchronization plugin and setting within Rhythmbox disabled, but still it insists on downloading song info.
When this happens, normal music transfers occur at far less than half the usual speed.
I don't believe that Rhythmbox knows what Rockbox is (which is fine). When booted and plugged in, it shows up in gnome as a regular mounted usb drive, with music files on it. (I have music in a 'Music' folder, but other options are available.) It would be great if there were some way to disable the searching of all (or generic) insertable media.
As another issue: if I try to eject the ipod from within Rhythmbox during the scanning process, I get a 'Failed to eject medium; one or more volumes on the medium are busy.' error. Then, according to my system monitor, data transfers continue on for many seconds.
