Get Gdk window of Gtk window
After having looked through the source code, I was not able to find a possibility to get the underlying Gdk window for a created Gtk window. Searching online only yielded this question which is however for C but proves to me that this it is possible. However, neither looking further through the source code nor setting a breakpoint in my python script and inspecting the properties of the Gtk window helped.
My goal here is to manipulate the override_redirect
attribute of the underlying Gdk window. I want to do this so my window manager (i3) leaves the window alone and I can position it on a fixed spot in the background (like a system monitor, e.g. conky). Online documentation showed me that override_redirect
can be set in the constructor of the Gdk window, but not when constructing the Gtk window. It would also be fine if somebody could point me to another method to manipulate this attribute.
