Support for marking or removing all black parts of a clip
I would like to see some kind of semi-automatic or automatic support for marking for removal or even removing all parts of a clip that is black for longer than a given threshold.
Background of my personal use-case
I'm thinking of life-recording a lecture (OBS Studio) with a shared screen content of the slides and my voice via microphone. Whenever there is something I don't want to have in the final result, I want to press b
in my presentation software (or the corresponding button on my presenter remote control) to turn the screen black.
In the recorded video, there would be no slide shown any more as long as I don't revert the blackness mode by pressing b
again (or the remote control button). Just the microphone would continue to record sound.
After importing the recorded video clip to pitivi, I would love to have an easy and fast to use method to either select all parts that are black for longer than a second or even delete them automatically. This would get rid of the recorded sound while being in "black mode".
This way, I could easily control what parts should be removed from the final result while recording the lecture without writing down time-stamps or further interacting with my computer. The beauty of this method is that it's clearly visible to everybody that the screen is black and therefore we're "off-the-record" with respect to the end result. You can't forget to disable this "off-the-record" mode since you want to see the slide again when continuing with the lecture "on-record".
To me, this looks like a killer-feature for many use-cases.
Thanks for your cool software!
