Orca Behaves Strangely when Navigating Line by Line in Libreoffice Writer
Using Orca 45 Alpha with Libreoffice Writer, I experience an issue whereby Orca is attaching the first letter when speaking to the line where I am moving. This surely doesn't make sense, so let me give you an example.
- Open Writer, and on the first line of the document, type "First line of text."
- On the second line, type "Second line of text.
- Press your up arrow key to move back to the first line of text in the document.
Expected behavior is that I should hear, "First line of text."
Instead, I hear, "Sfirst line of text." (Please look carefully at how I wrote that.)
If I then down arrow back to the second line of text, I should hear, "Second line of text." Instead, I hear, "Fsecond line of text." (Again, look carefully at how I wrote that.)
It's almost as if Orca is somehow buffering the first letter of the current line of text to the line which I move to either up or down in the document area.
I cannot test this with ESpeak, as I have a profound hearing loss, and Espeak is completely unusable to me with my impairment.
This was tested with Voxin 3.4RC6 using American English default IBMTTS. Also tested with Vocalizer Samantha, and Vocalizer Nathan Embedded High. All three produce this behavior.
As for Office Writer, here is the version info from my About screen:
